Hasn’t Baal been referenced in many movies, as Baal or Beelzebub? Like The Exorcist and Angel Heart, and of course Ba’al: The Storm God? Are there othe movies?

There have been numerous appearances and references across various forms of media, notably:

Books:

  • Lord of the Flies by William Golding: This is the most direct and famous literary reference. The “Lord of the Flies” is a pig’s head on a stick, which becomes a symbol of the boys’ descent into savagery and the inherent evil within human nature. Beelzebub is explicitly linked to “Lord of the Flies” in the novel.

Plays:

  • Stargate SG-1 (TV series): Baal is a recurring alien Goa’uld enemy who poses as an ancient Canaanite god.
  • The Simpsons episode “Das Bus”: Parodies the plot of Lord of the Flies, with the children stranded on an island.
  • South Park episode “The Wacky Molestation Adventure”: Also references Lord of the Flies with the children creating their own society after expelling adults.
  • Yellowjackets (TV series): Inspired by the abandoned all-female adaptation of Lord of the Flies.
  • Hardware (film): The MARK-13 robot antagonist has “B.A.A.L.” in its serial number (Bioelectronic Artificially Intelligent Autoindependent Lifeform).
